Traditional Festivities of San Francisco Javier

Mission San Javier, in the Sierra Giganta Mountains above Loreto, was the second mission founded in the Californias.  (Loreto was the first.) Local officials, religious clergy, and community members organize festivities in honor of San Francisco Javier, to be held on the 1, 2 and 3 of December annually.

Thousands of faithful gather year after year in this small town to give thanks to San Francisco Javier for abundant blessings.

In a family environment, visitors enjoy all the leisure activities that are presented and the excellent care provided by its inhabitants. As every year they have already prepared what will be the religious activities, being these the main ones of the celebrations to be carried out during these days.

Given the large number of visitors who meet in the town of San Javier, it is necessary to prepare an important security and support operation, since as part of this tradition the parade is performed, artistic, cultural, recreational activities such as racing horses, cock fights, among others, so everybody is invited to be part of this commemoration and enjoy the artistic programs that have been prepared for this year to be enjoyed.
