Mission San Javier, in the Sierra Giganta Mountains above Loreto, was the second mission founded in the Californias. (Loreto was the first.) Local officials, religious clergy, and community members organize festivities in honor of San Francisco Javier, to be held on the 1, 2 and 3 of December annually. Thousands of faithful gather year after year in this small town to give thanks to San Francisco Javier for abundant blessings. In a family environment, visitors enjoy all the leisure activities that are presented and the excellent care provided by its inhabitants. As every year they have already prepared what will be the religious activities, being these the main ones of the celebrations to be carried out during these days. Given the large number of visitors who meet in the town of San Javier, it is necessary to prepare an important security and support operation, since as part of this tradition the parade is performed, artistic, cultural, recreational activities such as racing horses, cock fights, among others, so everybody is invited to be part of this commemoration and enjoy the artistic programs that have been prepared for this year to be enjoyed.
The tail of a humpback whale is splashing in the ocean.

The blue whale is the largest animal in the world because of its weight and length, not only today but throughout history. During this tour, you will observe the blue whale very closely on its way through Mexican coasts. These mammals migrate from the North Pole to find warmer waters and reproduce or give birth to small calves, so that during the months of February and March you will find some couples of mother-and-child feeding in the Sea of Cortez. Enjoy the spectacle of these animals interacting with the wildlife that inhabits the Gulf of California, which includes humpback whales, fin whales, sea lions, and dolphins, among others. Establish a connection with nature and be patient, because in this route, it is necessary to find the whales and wait for them to emerge every 10 or 15 minutes; however, the closeness and the majesty of these mammals will be worthwhile. February and March are the best months to experience the blue whales. Discover Loreto and surroundings area and stay at Casa Mangos.
A church with a clock tower and a palm tree in front of it

As you dream of the ocean breeze rustling through palm trees, there may be one very important question on your mind: Is Loreto, Mexico safe? But those who have strolled the cobblestone streets and sat in restaurants while listening to locals greet each other know that this charming town is one of the safest in Mexico. It’s an ideal destination for travelers looking for all the beauty and excitement of a Mexico vacation but without crowds of tourists. The small-town charm of the city and its warm hospitality make it the perfect spot for everything from family vacations to romantic getaways. At the beginning of the Global COVID Pandemic, the city quickly closed many businesses, and resorts waved goodbye to their final guests of the winter. Since re-opening, the City has implemented preventive measures: requiring masks indoors, social distancing, (including reducing the number of patrons allowed in restaurants and businesses) and temperature checks. Tourists arriving at the airport complete required health questionnaires. The city has received the Safe Travels Stamp from the World Travel & Tourism Council because of these ongoing efforts. As you look for where to travel, the Safe Travels Stamp gives tourists an idea of how safe Loreto is. You can also research the specific health protocols your lodging is implementing. However, your Loreto safety depends on your choices as well. Carry hand sanitizer and a mask (cubreboca) with you when you’re out and about, and always follow posted safety guidelines. It’s this Loreto Mexico safety that has made it the premier destinations for those wanting to relax and unwind without a care in the world. Despite what you may hear on the news or watch in movies, most of the popular destinations in Mexico are very safe and welcoming to visitors, and when you book a vacation to Loreto, you’ll be able to relax in peace and play to your heart’s content. When you book your Loreto vacation, you’ll only have to think about what type of fresh seafood to order at dinner and how often to apply your sunblock.
